High school is hard when you're invisible.

Fiona McClean hates her family, has had to move to a new school and seems to be completely invisible to the boy she likes. So far so normal, right? But Fiona really is invisible. She doesn't even know what colour her own hair is.

Born into a world where Cold War anti-radiation pills have caused genetic mutations, Fiona is forced to work for her mind-controlling mobster father as the world's most effective thief. When her father announces she must become a murdering assassin, Fiona and her telekinetic mother make a break for freedom. Running to a small Arizonian town, Fiona finds that playing at 'normal life' with a mother on the edge, a brother she can't trust, and a boy who drives her crazy is as impossible as escaping her father.

Source: I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book whatsoever; it's my true opinion only.

I received an e-copy of this from Edelweiss. Thank you to the publisher for giving me a chance to read and review this.
When reading the synopsis, I thought it sounded interesting. A girl that is invisible in a world where other people have abilities is different. It's almost like a world filled with super heroes.
Being invisible is sometimes what people would like to be, or some people do tend to feel invisible when they are ignored.
To read about a girl who has this life is most definitely an interesting one.

This is the first book. Whether it's a duology or series, I'm not sure yet as the sequel to this book hasn't been out long.

The beginning of the book I thought was good. It was hilarious, and introduced me to Fiona the main protagonist.

Fiona is a fascinating character. Her body is invisible, and if she is naked, no one can see her.
She is hilarious and an outsider. Despite her being invisible, she also feels it sometimes, and so she is surprised when she ends up making friends at her school.

Seth is very protective of Fiona. He is mysterious, the brother of Brady, and is very good at keeping secrets; especially a big one that Fiona has.

Miles was a character I really liked. He is a really good brother to Fiona and looks after her well.

Bea and Brady are the first two friends that Fiona makes, and they are really good friends who support Fiona well.

The general storyline I found to be good and interesting. I myself am a big fan of super powers.
I did find I had a love/hate relationship with it though. At times I just felt things needed to be explained better as they weren't coming off clear to me. I didn't know what was going on with certain characters. It just felt like there was a little something missing from the story.
I liked that there was a mystery element to the book. I did want to continue on to see what was going to happen next.

The story is written in first person, and the chapters are short, which is good. I really like stories with short chapters as it makes you feel like you are reading the book faster.

I did enjoy the writing. It is very easy to follow and flows nicely.

The end of the book was a little flat for me in terms of what happened. I still don't really know in a way. But it also did have a cuteness with a couple of characters.

Overall I did enjoy the story. I will read the sequel at some point as Transparent didn't end on a cliffhanger. I would like to see what will happen next.

In the end I gave this four stars. If you like books that contain mystery and special abilities, then give this a try!

I hope you have enjoyed this review.

Happy reading =)
